THE WILD ONES

This project was created in memory and dedication to our rescue and protection of the Challis wild horses in 2009.

Understanding the challenges any gathered wild horse in adoption corrals faces, we decided to assist by creating this training support to the BLM. While the wild horse issue remains to be a politically difficult topic, it is our goal to focus on the horses in need of finding a new and safe future.

Our concept is simple.

Wild horses only know how to feel safe in a herd environment. Their physical, emotional and mental health deeply depends on that structure! With the understanding of this vital learning component, our “students” arrive in small groups of 2 to 4 and remain together throughout their time with us.

The majority of the training happens at liberty. The horses learn as a group without the stress of being separated. Free of restrains and force, our horses discover how to work “with us” while gaining all necessary skills to succeed in their future life with humans.

We firmly believe that any horse well started has a significantly better chance of a safe life in our human world.

After “graduation” we try to assist in their adoption straight from our facility without returning to BLM adoption corrals first. Interested adopters are encouraged to spend time with us and their horse before taking over. We then continue to be available for reasonable support.
